KISS OF THE DRAGON

In the movie, Jet Li plays Liu Jiuan, a chinese government officer who
is set up for murder by a crooked French government organization. He is now on the run with a hooker (Bridget Fonda) who is in search for her daughter.
Good lord! Someone open up the ground because I think hell has frozen over! Jet Li has finally made a great american martial-arts movie! I know what you're saying, "You must be joking. I thought you hated Jet Li movies?" This one is an exception. The plot is soo great and soo excellent that I actually thought this movie really required some actual thinking to it. Jet Li is excellent in this movie. He always plays the hero but never plays a good guy.
In this movie, he is not a good guy, but he does find himself in some deep trouble. The acting is somewhat excellent. Bridget Fonda is very charming and has unusually great chemistry with Li's character. She provides somewhat experience and drama to this movie and really keeps it from sagging. Jet Li makes a great formula for this movie which makes it a great treat to watch. I trashed "Romeo Must Die" and I trashed "The Black Mask" because of the way he does his movies. They usually consist of campy far- fetched fight scenes, goofy plots, and lame characters. But in this movie, he barely has any far-fetched goofy fight scenes and makes it just plain hardcore. There's barely any slow- motion,
all the characters have their own intricate personalities and instantly we begin to root
for him. I'm glad he changed his formula, because it just made this movie better to
watch. The action is phenomonal and the fight scenes will have you jumping on your seat.
I personally guarantee it. This movie is a must-see for any Jet Li or action fan. I hope he continues to make movies like this.

The problem with this movie is that Jet Li doesn't completely drop his wire-fu, as the critics call it. I thought some of the scenes were campy and stupid and had me laughing most of the times. I also felt there were alot of weird plot devices that didn't sit too well with me. Like what was the deal with those pins he stuck in his opponents? Cheesy. But nonetheless, these flaws didn't affect the movies score much.

An exciting stylish action flick for the guys that is chop full of great fight scenes. Check this one out.
